SUNDACE FILM FESTIVAL

The most fabled affair of the year is—you guessed it— the 10-day Sundance Film Festival. A cinephile’s dream come true, Sundance transforms our little ski town into a hotspot for Hollywood types (non-celebrities welcome!). For over three decades, it has premiered some of the greatest independent films ever made, and, as a festival-goer, you’re likely to see history in the making. Pro tip: take a break from screenings to hit the slopes. Nearly nonexistent lift lines and undisturbed snowfall mean skiers and snowboarders can rejoice! With the crowds engrossed in all things film, you’ll get those coveted first tracks and lots of room to carve, or wipeout, without an audience. And remember to brush up on your small talk skills because, when you’re not in a darkened theater, you may share bar space and banter with a movie biz up-and-comer.

UTAH SYMPHONY

The Deer Valley Music Festival combines the classical stylings of the Utah Symphony with stellar performers in classic rock, country, pop, and jazz. Does your idea of a good time sound like Prince tunes played by 85 first-rate instrumentalists? Then this festival is your jam. On Friday and Saturday nights, in July and August, the Utah Symphony pairs with performers in classic rock, country, show tunes, pop, jazz, and of course, classical music under the stars at the Deer Valley Snow Park Outdoor Amphitheater.

Live music and artisan food tastings complete this one-of-a-kind festival. To top it off, proceeds go to the Kimball Art Center, which provides free year-round exhibitions and tours, plus education to teachers, students, and the community at large. We call that a win-win.
